
About Us
Thorner Trees Group, made up of members of the Thorner Community, aims to increase the population of trees and flora and fauna in Thorner Parish.
Thorner Trees Group is an association that will work in close and open consultation with local residents, Thorner Parish Council, Harewood Ward Councellors and other local groups as well as seeking support from expert organisations such as The Woodland Trust and The Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust.
Why more Trees?
Britain has the lowest percentage of tree cover in Europe and the North of England has the lowest percentage of tree cover in the UK.
They capture and store Co2 so are a powerful tool against the Climate Emergency.
They help support wildlife, providing food and shelter therefore increasing wildlife.
They can help reduce flooding and build up of silt in and near waterways.
They help reduce pollution making our environment safer.
They help improve soil quality.
They can provide resources, food, coppice and fire wood etc.
